Jon Ray is a writer, director, and actor in film along with a large assortment of other titles when it comes to entertainment. Since the age of 13, he has played and enjoyed Dungeons & Dragons normally running his own games as the Dungeon Master for others. Originally from Tyler, Texas, Jon currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma after living some time abroad in Australia.

If you’ve ever pondered what it looks like to find real gold in your pan, the center of this picture you will find a few flakes. When the shiny unmistakable sight of gold peeks from under the rocks and dirt, that’s when the gold fever kicks in. These were panned from a river, where the gold waited millions of years for me to eventually come along and find it in nature. A bit like fishing, Prospecting has become a beloved hobby for me and the chance to make some money makes it even better.

This brings to a close my Winterfest 2019 Week. For #fantasyfriday I decided to share with you the Gingerbread Dragon I got from a bakery stall called Mud and Sugar. It was my first Gingerbread Dragon so I had to share. At the end of the event I was left with on 8 books in my entire inventory. It was a great event and I gained a lot of new readers. After I had broken down the stall and the sun was setting in the twilight hours, I reflected on the events of the weekend and decided I would definitely return for next year’s Winterfest 2020.

I must say that this 2 day event at Winterfest was my best as far as book sales go. At the end of the event I was left with only 8 books total! I was happy with how my stall turned out with the new signs and with the addition of my 3rd Gorp book at St. Ives Medieval Faire in Sept, I hope to do even better.

Sitting upon a hill, overlooking the city of Dunedin, is New Zealand’s only castle called “Larnach Castle”. William Larnach who was merchant baron and politician New South Wales, Australia, had the castle built in 1871 for his wife Eliza. Surrounding it also an example of an lavish 19th century European Garden. Getting to tour the grounds and inside the castle was a great experience, although I was overcast the day I went.

One thing I’ve learned about running a book stall, is that you have to have signage and visuals to draw people in. It made a difference having this pull up banner with minor details and visuals from all 3 Gorp the Goblin full book covers on it.
